Restore from live environment
Hi,I have a MOSS 2007 Enterprise live environment, with a front end and SQL Server back end, custom web parts, workflows and so on.I want to create a test environment by backing this up and restoring the backup to a different pair of servers. Will this work, and how should I go about it. i.e. Will backing up and restoring at the farm level work?Regards,Fergus

Refer to links from Ahmad. To summarise, I have done the following for the clients to create a dev environment which is an exact replica of the prod env.Similiar infra setup. Exact build match - service packs, cumulative updates etc. Install SharePoint (updates slipstreamed) Run Config Wizard Setup Web Apps,Site Collection Custom solutions deployed to the farm Detach content db from web app Attach content db (from production) to web app - SQL DB permissions should be taken care of :)Might have to do stsadm -o siteowner if site collection admin is test account.Done! :) Blog: Alpesh Nakar's Blog| Twitter: Follow Alpesh on Twitter |SharePoint Resources: Just SharePoint Resource Center |Follow Just SharePoint updates on Twitter
