Restore Site from site template
Hi, I am using SharePoint 2007. I created a blank site. I have a site template available in the Application. I want to restore the site template to the newly created site. How to restore the site template for the newly created site? I am not sure of the term used.. Is it restore or import. Thank you

Hello Venkat, The question is quiet unclear. I understand that you have created a new site with blank template. Now you have a template available (and I believe its a custom site template). Now do you want to copy another site/subsite to this site using the template you have available (which is an export or backup of site) or you want to change the template of this blank site to some other template(e.g team site or publishing or some custom template etc) ?? Regards, Rohan

Hi, If you are using export and import command-line operations, here is the guide source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262465.aspx And here are some tips you should note: 1. Make sure you have deployed the same features and customizations to the destination site. 2. Before you import the sites, please create a new top site or a new sub site in existed top site with the same site template with the site to be imported, and use this site /sub site path as the URL parameter in the IMPORTE command line. If you are using stp file, please refer to: http://www.sharepointdiy.com/articles/export-a-sharepoint-site-as-a-site-template http://www.sharepointdiy.com/articles/uploading-a-site-template-stp-in-sharepoint Hope it is helpful!
