Restore Sharepoint
Hi, I am using sharepoint 2007. I deleted the content database from central administration and created a new database. I am getting error HTTP/1.1 404 Connection: close Date: Wed, 07 Apr 2010 09:17:04 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET MicrosoftSharePointTeamServices: 12.0.0.4518 I had a back up of the old database, so i replaced the new database with old database. The old and new database have same name(WSS_Content). but i am still getting error The original sharepoint application had 9 sites. However when i checked in central administration page, the site count is 0 inspite of me replacing the new database with the old one. Can any body help me with this. Thanks, Jude

Hi there, Try the addcontentdb command using stsadm and the assignnewdatabaseid - run the following from cmd: stsadm -o addcontentdb -url http:// -databaseserver SQLDatabaseServer -databasename YourWSSContentDB -assignnewdatabaseid SQLDatabaseServer = Database Server NameYourWSSContentDB = your content db If the Content DB is showing "Current Number of Sites" is 0, then there may be an existing Content DB id in your sharepoint installation configuration DB. First find out the Id of the sites (site collection) in the [restored_db].Sites then delete the line in the [Config_db].SiteMap with the same Id. I had the very same issue and blogged the solution here: http://www.stationcomputing.com/scblogspace/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40 Hope this helps Geoff
