I am running BIDS on the 2008 R2 server which hosts SQL 2008. Even with a totally empty SSIS project in offline mode, if I resize the app window it freezes the server for a few minutes. We won't talk about a real package with connections :/ Jake

I suggest you develop your packages on a different machine. I have seen this before it occurs when multiple users are logged in say via a Terminal Server connection and one of those connections is loading the box in terms of doing some heavy processing. Even opening a notepad gets delayed under such a scenario. Also the SQL Server may have taken a good if not all the memory available.Arthur My Blog
