Reset Console to Default
Hi there- The default views for our SCOM 2007 R2 console appear to have been edited.
For instance, any time the console is launched, on the Monitoring tab, at the top, all I see are Unix/Linux Servers (our former admin was a UNIX admin). Active Alerts, Closed Alerts, Computers, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Apps and Task status
are not there.
The console view is the same if launched on the SCOM server and when installed locally on my machine.
No views appear to be scoped and show/hide views has everything checked.
How do I go about resetting the console to the default, like when the SCOM install was brand new?
Thank you!

Hi,
You need to re-import a vanilla copy of the 'default management pack'.
Be careful though, if best practice has not been followed, you may loose other configuration, such as overrides, or even rules and monitors.
Therefore it would be a good idea to export the current default management pack and keep that copy somewhere.
The filename of the default management pack is: Microsoft.SystemCenter.OperationsManager.DefaultUser.xml - you can get it from a new SCOM installation.

If the default management pack has been edited, is there a clean copy of it on the server somewhere?
Thanks

You can recreate this views.
Export default management pack,
download clean default MP here, and copy\paste View definition from 'clean' MP to exported(your) copy. Increase MP version and update (import) edited MP.
DO NOT forget to save a backup copy of your MP BEFORE you start to edith it! :)

It worked!
What I did was take the clean copy of the default managment pack above and import it, like any other management pack. There were no customizations with it, so wiping the slate clean was not an issue.
It worked like a charm - I can now see Active Alerts, Closed Alerts, Computers, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Apps and Task status from Monitoring.
Thanks for your help and suggestions!
