Request to join into a group from outlook add-in when mailbox is in a different domain
Hello. Forefront Add-in is installed on outlook 2007 SP2 and when the user is request to join a group, he can see only the groups that are on the GAL of it's own domain. Is there's a way for a user to ask join to a group on a different domain? (I think this is the only problem assuming that the user has the same username/password in both domains. Thanks.idan

If the groups in question are Universal groups then I believe they should appear in the GAL of all domains in the forest. If the domain is in a separate forest then you need to syncronize GAL's between the forest, otherwise you may need to convert the groups in question to Universal Groups.Brad Turner, ILM MVP - Ensynch, Inc - www.identitychaos.com

Are the users in the same forest or in two different forests? The add-in will only list one GAL so if you have two different forests with two different Exchange orgs, then you have to populate the other GAL with all groups from the other forest. FIM can synchronize the groups for you. If you only have one forest, but different domains then all you have to do is to investigate why you do not see all groups in the GAL. Hopefully you are not using domain local groups for Exchange. If the user has a account in the other domain doesn't matter at all. /AndreasThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Just in case there's any remaining ambiguity: from the Outlook Add-in, the user can request to join any group that the user can see in the GAL. If the group isn't visible in the GAL, then to enable your scenario, you'll need to follow Brad & Andreas' advice to get the group visible in the GAL. And once the group is visible in the GAL, then the user can request to join it.
