Reports not showing Win7 SP1 installed
I have been slowly rolling out Win7 SP1 from a software package. The actual report for the package shows it completes successfully and active directory is accurately showing that SP1 is installed. However, my reports are still showing that service pack 1 is not installed. This was done last week, so there as been mulitple discovers ran, including a heartbeat. Any ideas? The report is below: SELECT c.Name, os.Caption0 as 'Operating System', os.CSDVersion0 as 'Service Pack', Count(*) as 'Count' FROM v_R_System rsys JOIN v_GS_OPERATING_SYSTEM os ON rsys.ResourceID = os.ResourceID JOIN v_FullCollectionMembership fcm on os.ResourceID = fcm.ResourceID JOIN v_Collection c on fcm.CollectionID = c.CollectionID JOIN v_CollectToSubCollect ctsc on c.CollectionID = ctsc.SubCollectionID WHERE ctsc.parentCollectionID = 'NB100026' --Departments GROUP BY c.Name, os.Caption0, os.CSDVersion0 ORDER BY c.Name, os.Caption0, os.CSDVersion0

v_gs_operating_system comes from hardware inventory, not heartbeat, nor any other discoveries. How often is your hardware inventory set? Note that most companies I know generally have hardware inventory set to daily. (software inventory is left at weekly, or even in some cases, simply not enabled at all).Standardize. Simplify. As a follow up on the reply from Sherry. can you see any data in the Operating System, Count operating systems and service packs report?Kent Agerlund | My blogs: blog.coretech.dk/kea and SCUG.dk/ | Twitter: @Agerlund | Linkedin: Kent Agerlund

Oh ok, thanks Sherry. I've never actually changed anything with this agent. The hardware inventory client agent is set to every 7 days -- Dell setup our site. It has only been 3 days since the update.

Yes Kent. I see data in the report for both SP1 and non-SP1. I just don't see the computers that were recently updated in the SP1 report.

Well, I recommend changing it to daily. For paranoia (sometimes paranoia is a good thing), monitor inboxmon.log for a while; within an hour or so you'll likely see spikes in dataldr backlogs (that's hardware inventory files coming in). But just soldier through the backlogs. (just wait for them to clear). then every day for a while; just check to make sure that you don't continue to have chronic dataldr backlogs. In general, as I mentioned, most companies can handle daily (simple) hardware inventory just fine. But if your hardware isn't great, or you are just on the edge of supportability, maybe daily is too frequent, or maybe you have to turn off some of the hinv classes (like ccm_recentlyusedapps) which are big hogs in some companies. Anyway, I'd just monitor it over the next week or so; but I'll bet you'll be fine. But it doesn't hurt to monitor it and be sure.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.
