Do you have SQL Reporting Services installed on the server? It's a different component and not installed unless you select it.

It could be the CU level of SP2 - I haven't tested CU3 myself yet. Do you see any errors in the srsrp.log file?

It's on the site server in the logs folder. Also check this TechNet article - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712698.aspx#BKMK_InstallReportingServicesPoint

I looking to this document , what is doing in the select reporting role . And there is

Creates the data source in Reporting Services with the stored credentials that you specified in the wizard. This is the Windows user account and password that Reporting Services uses to connect to the site database when you run reports.

Creates the Configuration Manager root folder in Reporting Services.

this is under system account sccm ? I have smmc server in the local administrators in the sql server . %ProgramFiles%\SMS_SRSRP I cannot find in the sccm machine

Hi all,

we are exactly facing the same issue in SCCM 2012 with report server running on dedicated instance,

SCCM SRS Root folder configmgr_XXX is not present or not properly configured and the web report URL unable to connect the report server.

Is there any way to resolve this issue.

Thanks in Advance,

Siva Aadhi

I've been working on and off with a new installation of SCCM and came up against this when I started to implement SQL RS a few hours ago.

The environment:

  • SCCM 2012 with SP1 on the first server.
  • SQL Server with SP1 on the second server.
  • Installing the SCCM RSP site system role on the SQL Server (to state the obvious).

What I found in the srsrp.log file were the following two lines:

  1. System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The item '/ConfigMgr_UCH' cannot be found. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ItemNotFoundException: The item '/ConfigMgr_UCH' cannot be found.
  2. System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The permissions granted to user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' are insufficient for performing this operation.

I also found that it had a repeatable 1 min retry timer which explained why hasty removals and re-additions of the RSP often weren't actioned at all. Anyhow, moving.

The simple solution was to use a browser to access the SQL RS site (in our case, the virtual directory is the default "Reports" directory) and add the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM account to the Permissions areas in:

  • Site Settings, as a System Administrator.
  • Folder Settings, as a Content Manager.

I expect I didn't need to use the first option, but I'll go back when time permits and see what the least security rights required are. For now, it's enough that it resolved this specific issue.

Cheers,
Lain

As a follow-up to my previous post on the least required rights, the answer isn't straight forward.

Initially, both rights are indeed required - unless you take on a number of unfriendly processes yourself. This is because amongst other things, SCCM goes and creates specific user roles within SQL RS which requires the Site Settings permission for the SYSTEM account. Also, breaking inheritance produces undesired results - at least it did in my case. Your mileage may vary.

There are a number of approaches to reducing the rights required, but frankly, if SCCM reporting is the only reporting directory you're going to host on this copy of SQL RS, don't bother. For most of you, it's not going to be worth the pain (and both approaches I've just explored are rather painful).

Cheers,
Lain

Old post here but just wanted to say thanks to Lain Robertson for this. Was having the exact same problem and adding the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM into the aforementioned groups in SSRS worked a charm!
