Reporting fails to load.

Hi

Since upgrading to DPM 2012R2 reporting no longer works. When I try to open a report IE launches but all I get is an error message as follows:

"Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'ReportSRV4, Version=1.0.523.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (rsErrorLoadingExprHostAssembly)"

I have searched around but can't find an answer to this. Everything else working fine. Anyone else encountered this?

Thanks

Richard

Hi

is your SSRS working correctly? I also upgraded without an issue.

Any errors logged regarding reporting?

I'm getting the same error after upgrading SQL 2008 r2 to 2012 sp1. I'm also trying to upgrade DPM 2012 SP1 to R2 but getting an error on the prerequisite check.

Did you find a solution?

Very sorry not able to help. Never have found a sloution. Not a critical feature for me so I haven't really spent much time on the issue.

Unsure as to whether it is an SQL problem or a DPM problem. I am a general network technician so not expert in either.

Might come back to it later when workload allows. Hope you find an answer to your problem.

On the server hosting the SQL Reporting Services for DPM can you verify that there is a file called "ReportSRV4.resources.dll" inside the folder "\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin" for your SQL Instance?

As an example;

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.DPM\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\ReportSRV4.dll

There should also be several subfolders for each localization, for example:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.DPM\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\sv-SE\ReportSRV4.resources.dll

Let us know if these exists or not and we can continue from there.

Kind regards,

Tobias

Hi,

Thanks all, in the end the only way I could get DPM reinstalled and working was a reinstall of Windows.

Hi,

I upgraded our DPM 2012 SP1 server.  This entailed upgrading the operating system to Server 2012 SP1 and SQL to SQL 2012 SP1.  SQL in our case is also installed on the DPM server.  We encountered the same issue you did.  To resolve (and because we had upgraded SQL) we were able to locate the file in the old SSRS instance folder and copy it to the new SSRS instance folder.  We waited about five minute and presto the reports worked again.

Copied ReportSRV4.dll from:

Old SSRS instance folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\SQL\MSRS10_50.MSDPM2012\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin to:

New SSRS instance folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\SQL\MSRS11.MSDPM2012\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin

I hope this is of help to someone. Regards
