Reporting Services Setup Query
I have installed and configured Reporting Server (default instance and default setup). On Reporting services configuration wizard I see all "green"; Now I want to test the connectivity to reporting services, so i entered http://my-server_01/ReportServer. It gives me login popup. I tried multiple users but cant connect, What should be this user id? Thanks for your help.

Hi Sqlserver_dummy, http://my-server_01/ReportServer is for Web Services, you should use http://my-server_01/Reports instead. Also you should use the account you supplied during the installation (e.g. add current user, domain\user). Finally you are running Windows 7, then you need to configure UAC as well, you can disable UAC if needed for development only. Hope this helps! Thanks, Michael Mei

Thanks Michael, I am using Vmware to test and have windows 2003 installed where i setup and configured reporting services. I tried http://my-server_01/Report and it gives "You are not authorized to view this page". You mentioned "use the account supplied during the installation", how do I find out what account I supplied (sorry i am newbie and more confused after googling this..) I am using network-service to start the 'reporting services' service. thanks for your help.

Hi Sqlserver_dummy, It's http://my-server_01/Reports , you are missing (s). This is the default URL for Report Manager. As for user account, it's OK to use network-service to start the 'reporting services' service. But you will also need to have Admin account for Report Manager. Either it's BUILTIN\Administrators or the current user you added during the installation. The account should be the same for all SQL DB/SSIS/SSAS/SSRS. The best way is to use SSMS to check your SQL DB account. If you are still having issues with the user account I would suggest you to reinstall SSRS. Hope this helps! Thanks, Michael Mei

I forgot to mention that SSRS uses Windows Authentication so you should be able to sign in automatically. For more info please refer to the link below: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281253.aspx Hope this helps! Thanks, Michael Mei
