Reporting Services (Bids) development rdl.data file caching issues
We are running SQL Server reporting Service 2008R2 with Cumulative Update package 7 for SQL Server 2008 R2 Whenever our developers make schema changes to the dataset and then add or remove from the report, we get some odd error untill we delete the rdl.data file associated with the report. I understand that this file contain the data and if a parameter is chnged the data gets updated. My problem seems to be with the schema being cached. I can open the dataset properties and chnge the order of the fields and it will have the report all out of wack when I preview it. If I delete the rdl.data file the schema is regenerated and the report is fine. Is this the propor way this should work? It seems like if schema changes, the rdl.data file should be regenerated since it seems to need to be deleted anyway. Thanks
