Report Builder Language Settings
How can I make Report Builder default to produce reports using UK date format (dd/mm/yyyy) rather than USA format (mm/dd/yyyy)? When I produce reports using Visual Studio Report Designer, I can change the Language property to English (United Kingdom) and this works fine, but Report Builder does not seem to have this property. I know I can change the date format in the text box, but I don't want the users to have to do this for every ad-hoc report they create. For reference I believe all my regional settings on the server and client machines are all English (United Kingdom) and allthe Internet Explorer settings and Database user settings.

When you say you can change the Language property to English UK in Visual Studio Report Designer, do you mean the application's Language setting, or a particular report's Language setting? Also, which version of RB are you using -- RB1 or RB2?Regards.Mike

I am using Report Builder version 9.0.1399.0(SQL Server 2005, Reporting Services). I want to change default date format to UK(dd/mm/yyyy), currently it is in USA format(mm/dd/yyyy). I wantthis default format for each report I create in Report Builder application(not in Visual Studio). Thanks and RegardsMadhukar

Right click on the field and select "Format." In the number tab of the format dialog, choose the "custom" option and type in the .NET format string you want to use, in this case dd/mm/yyyy.This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Madhukar, I was looking for the same thing, as obviously you don't want to have to format each field individually, and I have found it. This is in Report builder 2.0 or 3.0. Go to the View menu, and by default the Properties check box is unchecked - check it, and you get the Properties window, where at Report level you can set your Language to be en-GB. Hope this helps!

Rachel, Thanks for sharing that. I used to do it by converting a date in a Varchar, Great tip! Convert(Varchar(10),DateField103)
