Report Builder Error
I just installed SQL 2008 R2 Reporting Services. I can launch Report Builder no problem, however a couple users the the pop-up "application validation did not succeed. Unable to continue". The details of the error are below, but the line that seems to be the culprit is... Activation of http://wtsql01/REPORTINGSERVICE/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected: + File, s10ch_rptdesign.chm, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest. Has anyone seen this before? It's odd that it works for some users, but not others. Thanks. Hi scott, The issue can't be reproduced in my test environment, and is hard to troubleshoot this issue. I just can tell you one possible solution from a similar case for report builder 2.0 my colleague solved. First of all, from the error message "+ File, s10ch_rptdesign.chm, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest.", we could find the issue had something to do with the s10ch_rptdesign.chm file (i also can't explain why some users can launch it while others can't). So, we could replace it with a good one. The file is located at \Reort Builder 3.0\1033. 1. Apply CU3 to your SQL Server 2008 R2, download it from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2261464 . 2. Download my s10ch_rptdesign.chm file from http://cid-bb86b5abdf3aeb0e.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/s10ch%5E_rptdesign.chm , backup yours into other location and copy mine to the \Report Builder 3.0\1033 to see if the report builder 3.0 works. please let us know more details if the issue persists. thanks, Jerry
