Report Builder 3 not connecting to the server
I have some SSRS reports that I am looking to use Report Builder 3 with them. Currently I was moved to a new laptop. The problem I am having is that the connection to the server from the report is not working, I am getting this message: "Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server specified URL // www. etc" I have access to this server via VPN and Remote desktop. I need someone who can explain the reasons are why this is failing. Platform: Report Builder 3 R2, SSRS, SQL Server 2008

Hi tusharr, The error message "Connection failed. Unable to connect to the server specified URL <Report Server URL>" means we are not able to connect to the Report Server. Generally, we can follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue: Make sure we can connect to the report server machine via VPN. From the client, open the Web Services URL(known as Report Server URL) in the Internet Explorer(IE). Make sure it is able to open it. Try to use IP to access the Report Server from the Report Builder. Run the Report Builder under the domain account(Press key SHIFT and then right click the Report Builder, click 'Run as different user' ). Check the Reporting Services error logs(by default, it can be found from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles). Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT
