Report Builder 3.0 connects to disabled HTTP port
For security reasons, I have disabled HTTP (port 80) access to Reporting Services. I have done this using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager by removing Port 80 from the Advanced properties button. SSL identities have been configured and work properly. I disabled HTTP on both the Web Service URL tab and the Report Manager URL tab. I verified that the Web Service (https://www.myservername.com/ReportServer) and Report Manager (https://www.myservername.com/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx) are only available on HTTPS. I receive an error when connecting with HTTP as expected. However, Report Builder 3.0 is able to connect with both HTTP and HTTPS to the server. I am running 10.50.2769.0. Report Builder 3.0 has some internal logic that tries to connect using HTTPS protocol if the initial connection to an HTTP URL failed. I suspect that is what's happening here, although you might want to confirm that using a network tracing tool, like Fiddler. In this case, the fact that the Report Builder UI displays the HTTP URL as the current connection is inaccurate. Issues like this can always be logged on Microsoft Connect: http://connect.microsoft.com/ Thanks
