Report Builder 3.0, failed to on test connection and preview
I'm hitting the same error as Bob Hmine in his post http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/06b6ee35-6e3f-4144-b347-bd65fddeae7c/#52fe76ea-0dd3-4f29-b592-ee2a4bff3650 if i use standalone Report Builder 3.0 without connection to sharepoint site. i can create datasource and test connection successfully. once i connect to sharepoint site, it will throw this error "specified method not supported error". when click on run button. i've tried Challen Fu's link http://joelmansford.wordpress.com/2010/10/13/ssrs-report-builder-gives-%E2%80%9Cfailed-to-preview-report-%E2%80%9D-%E2%80%93-%E2%80%9Cspecified-method-is-not-supported-%E2%80%9D/ (changed to OLE still having specified method not support error) http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/76d93a4f-3380-42d8-8731-abf5dba52304/ (could not find Microsoft.ReportingServices.ModelDesigner.dll, don't have C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies directory) Anyone have solution to this issue?

Hi, Actually, Report Builder uses ClickOnce technology to download and install its application files on a client computer when you Edit a report. ClickOnce sends requests that specify Windows integrated security in the authentication header. If a server is configured for a different authentication type, the server will fail requests from ClickOnce with an authentication error. To work around this issue, you must either configure a server for Windows integrated security or you must enable Anonymous access to eliminate the authentication check. Steps for enabling Anonymous access are below: 1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. 2. Click the sharepoint site, you will see Authentication on the Features View surface. 3. Click the Authentication icon, then Enable the Anonymous Authentication in the status column. For more information about How to: Configure Report Builder Access, please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365173.aspx Challen Fu [MSFT] MSDN Community Support | Feedback to us Get or Request Code Sample from Microsoft Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.

Hi Challen, I've no problem launching the Report Builder on the client side. If annoymous authentication is not enable, you will hit error when it try to launch the report builder. (Tried) Also i'm using windows integrated security, having kerberos authentication. have no problem launching report builder 3.0 also.

Correct me if I am wrong, You can run Report build at your SSRS (without integrated sharepoint) without problem but when you use the SSRS with sharepoint, you got problem? If you think my suggestion is useful, please rate it as helpful. Hi SevenKnights, when i install SSRS, i already need to specified whether to run as Native mode or Sharepoint integrated mode. Base on our implementation, we need to run on integration mode. Therefore i have not tried to setup in Native mode first to test whether Report builder 3.0 is working fine. but directly install SSRS on integrated mode. if i run report builder 3.0 standalone client without connecting to sharepoint, i can create data source, test connection without any problem. Once i connect to sharepoint url, and goes to the build data connectoin and hit test connection, it show successful, but once i back to the build dialog box and hit the test connection, i'm getting "Specified method is not supported". if i ignore this error, it still show the remote tables on the query designer and i can drag-and-drop fields. once the report had been generated if i run preview, i'l get "Specified method is not supported". If i deploy this report onto Sharepoint document library, and click on the report, it can shown the report with data populated without problem.

This sounds like the report builder didnt cache the connection details properly after your click <back> button. Since your report is still working properly. I think you just try to avoid click back in your report design phase when using report builder. You can submit this to connect.microsoft.com and MS should get back to you on it.If you think my suggestion is useful, please rate it as helpful.
