ReportViewer shows blank in result pane, requires Refresh
Using this address in WinXP and IE 8: http://<ServerName>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?/<folder1>/<folder1.1>/<folder1.1.1>/<reportName>&rs:Command=Render&rc:Parameters=true It shows the Parameters pane including the "View Report" button and the pane with the Refresh button. The result pane is blank and still blank if I press "View Report", the only way it works is pressing Refresh. Using the Report Manager it works, the problem is only with ReportViewer.aspx It happens only with a few users. Some other users with the same configuration (XP, IE8) don't have the problem. All of them have admin rights in their machines. Works in Windows 7. It works running on the server itself. other info: Reporting Services 2005 (Version 9.00.4035) using the reporting databases in a named instance. --> could be the problem, but what? Windows Server 2003 SP2 (Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2) The Server is a VM machine but I doubt it has anything to do with it. The RS service runs under a Domain account that has admin right to the Server. Any idea?

Hi Ricardo, The issue might be caused by the Internet Explorer(IE) cache. By default, the IE will cache the page we visited, and the IE will determine if the page need to be refreshed once we visit the page again. However, the refresh processing may be fail. Then it will cause the report to show blank page or older data. In order to solve the issue, please try to delete the IE cache: Open the IE Click the menu "Tools" > "Internet Options..." Click "Delete" under the "Browing history" Select at least "Temporary Internet files" from the "Delete Browsing History" dialog Alternative, could you please try to use other version of IE to check if the issue is solved. If there is anything unclear, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi Ricardo/Chen, The same issue happens in our environment. Tried clearing the cache... no luck. Tried with a new browser(chrome) and all works fine. But the problem persists when we use IE. Is there a way to over come this? Thanks, Kalyan

Hi Kalyan, Could you please try to disable Protect Mode for Internet Explorer(IE) 8, and check if it works? Thanks, Jin ChenJin Chen - MSFT

Hi Jin, Cleaning the cache didn't solve it. I tried to find the "Protect Mode" in IE but I don't think my user with XP has it. If so, can you give me more details? Their Local Intranet settings (which is the case) is set to default Medium-Low level.

Kalyanbh, In your environment do you also have the report database in a named instance of SQL ? Just wondering. Thanks, Ricardo

SOLVED !! All client machines are in the Production network, the issue was happening when accessing our QA and DEV Reporting Servers which are in a different network. The firewall was set to investigate all traffic from port 80 between these two networks, so the packages could be blocked by our WebSense or in some rule there. As this is not a concern, the Network Security guy changed the setting allowing all http traffic to walk freely between them. It works perfectly now.
