Replacing old SMS Sites /w SCCM- Reboots, etc?
We just setup SCCM on new VM servers. We have 4 old SMS secondary sites that we want to upgrade to SCCM and use as DP's. Two of them are network file/print servers and the other two are domain controlers. All are running Win 2003 SP2+. 1. If we upgrde these SMS Sites, will it require reboots on these 4 servers? 2. Will there be a loss/outage of service during the SCCM upgrade (besides any necessary reboots)?

Hi, 1) A restart is not required 2) During the upgrade, the site systems will not work (as they are being upgraded).Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

#1: you can upgrade SMS to ConfigMgr, but you cannot reassign secondary sites to a new primary site. The only way to achieve that is uninstall and reinstall. A reboot is most likely not required (depends on the presence of the needed prerequisites like BITS etc) #2: not expected, but cannot be guaranteedTorsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

AD Services unavailable in the local office, etc, etc.
