Replacing Machines in SCCM
We are finishing up our first year with SCCM. We have about 14000 machines in our environment and are about to replace 3000 of these machines with new hardware. What is the best way to clear out the inventory data of the old 3000 replaced machines? Is it simply a matter of deleting the object in SCCM prior to introducing the replacement machine to sccm? The machine names will be the same. Thanks!

Installing a new machine with the same name will result in having two objects in ConfigMgr: the old one becomes active:no/obsolete:yes and the new one active:yes/obsolete:no. So usually nothing to worry about.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
