Replace scenario SMP problem
There are two SMP in total 1 in the primary site and the other in secondary site i.e :- 1. D:\SMP (Primary site) 2.K:\SMP (Secondary site) Now,machines which are present in the boundary of secondary site uses the secondary site SMP to restore/retrieve data in replace scenario and machine which are in the boundary of primary site uses it's smp to restore/retrieve data. i.e consider if the XP machine boundary is present in the primary site it stores the data in the smp of primary site,& when we are building the win 7 machine it searches for the data stored by XP machine in the secondary site and hence throws error(as the boundary of this machine is present in secondary site). What can i do to make all the machine use the SMP of secondary site. thanks Pranay.

To make the clients look for migration data on another SMP you need to use the "When no local distribution point is available, use a remote distribution Point" and/or "When no protected distribution point is available, use an unprotected distribution Point" option in your advertisment of the task sequence you are using for this.

it was a problem related to the protected site system, Made the boundary protected with the secondary site name so that the machines in this boundary uses secondary site DP & SMP and now it's working fine. For solving this issue we need to make the boundary protected to secondary site so that machines uses it's DP & SMP. Once the boundary is made protected machines in the boundary will start using Secondary site DP & SMP & the XP machine data will be saved in K:\SMP folder. A boundary can be made protected by following the below mentioned steps :- 1.Goto Site system of the Site. 2.Click on ConfigMgr Site System. 3.InconfigMgr Site System Properties check "Enable this site system as Protected site system" & click on select Boundaries. 4.Select the Boundary from the list of boundaries & click OK. After the process is completed Site server name will be displayed in the Protected tab of the boundary :- By this it means the machines under this Boundary will use secondary site DP & SMP. thanks Pranay.
