Rename Available Destination Columns
Hello I have an OLE DB Destination component that executes an insert. I understand how to do the insert, but I am finding the Param_0, Param_1 ... names for the available destination columns to be non-sensical and can become unmanageable with dimensions with lots of columns. I see that you can name the param's by going into the Input-output properties and setting the name of the parameter in each case (this is reflected in the column mappings too which is great). However, if I click "refresh" then I lose all the names and I'm back to param_0, param_1 ... again. The reason that I would see why this would be an issue is if there is a new attribute added to the dimension in future, which is a very realistic situation. Is there some way that this can be resolved? Any Ideas? Thanks In advance Nick.

Firstly, why to click on refresh? Second, you can save the component aside before you modify it under a new name as a backup. Lastly: What is the source? Sometimes the source contains column names, then the destination always would and if the names match you can right-click on the mapping page (between the available columns of the source and destination and chose "name by column names". If the names do not match, but close, then see this post on how to map the columns dynamically: http://irawarrenwhiteside.com/2010/01/28/ssis-dynamically-map-column-data-based-on-column-pattern-profiling/Arthur My Blog
