Remove or delete? You'll be free to remove them but if you wanna delete them you may have to remove the columns first. You can use SPManager for this.

Thanks. I meant of course deleting the groups. I forgot to mention I want to this on a Office 365 SharePoint Online tenant. I looked up for SPManager but for Office 365 it costs $$. Can I achieve it e.g. by using PowerShell or a .NET app?

Thanks.

Hi,

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to remove the existing site column groups and existing content type groups.

I dont think you can delete the group using PowerShell in SharePoint online.

Per my knowledge, there are currently only 30 cmdlets available to us and you can see the list of those cmdlets by typing Get-Command -Module Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.PowerShell.

More information: http://blog.falchionconsulting.com/index.php/2013/01/using-powershell-to-manage-sharepoint-2013-online/

As this is the forum for the SharePoint server, Im not sure whether SharePoint online has more cmdlets or not.

I recommend you can post your question to the forum for SharePoint Online:

http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/154.aspx.

More experts will assist you, then you will get more information relation to SharePoint Online.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Thanks & Regards,

Jason

Hi Guy,

First you need to remove the all site columns. Then it automatically deleted site column group.
