Removing SCCM 2007 from a server also running SCOM 2007
I have a production environment server (name: SCenter) that has SCCM 2007 sp1 R2 installed by my director of IT that has never worked. The same server has SCOM 2007 R2 running and seems to be working fine. I have been tasks with building a new server and installing a working SCCM 2007 sp2 R2 . I have built the new server, 2008 R2 (name: SCCM), and have not installed SCCM 2007 sp2 R2 yet because I have questions I still have not found clear answers to yet. I have installed SCCM 2007 sp2 R2 in my lab environment and is working as it should now after quite a bit of troubleshooting. The troubleshooting of SCCM 2007 sp2 R2 has given me great experience with SCCM, however I have no experience with SCOM. My question is "Can I just uninstall SCCM 2007 sp1 R2 form the same server as SCOM (server name: SCenter), without breaking SCOM", and does anyone know or see other pit falls I will run into? Unfortunately, I don’t have time to install SCOM in the lab and trouble shoot or test.

Yes, you can uninstall SCCM without breaking SCOM.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi, ConfigMgr uses a different files and database than OpsMgr, so yes you can remove it without problem, but it is always recommended to make a backup for your OpsMgr before.Bechir Gharbi | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/bgharbi/

Thanks Kent and Bechir, I will look for instructions for backing up OpsMgr. We also have just started using SCSM for our help desk (2 weeks in production now), I suppose that should be backed up as well. Do you have a link for OpsMgr backup procedures (If not I'm sure I will find them). Thanks again Happy Holidays!
