Remove targetting from list and change default value on a field
Hello, we use Sharepoint 2007. We have a website, where I want to remove Targetting from on of the lists. When i open this page: ListEnableTargeting.aspx And remove the Checkmark, i get this error: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. On the same list, we have a field: Author. which has a default text today. But I want to change this text, think it is inheritted from some contenttypes, but i'm unable to track the source. And I don't want to change the defaultvalue global, onlye on this single website. Any help?Jakob Olsen

Hi Jakob, Does the prompt “Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object” happen on all of the lists or just one list when uncheck “Enable audience targeting”? If we save a discussion board as list template in a site, export the site, import the site to a new site collection, create a discussion board on the site imported, we will meet the situation when uncheck “Enable audience targeting”, This is a known issue and there has no hotfix currently. To find the source of the field: Go to settings->list settings, under Columns, check the “Used in” or “Source” part of the field, if it is in a content type, it will show in this part, go to the content type settings page (Go to Site Actions->site settings, under Galleries, choose Site Content types)and check.
