Remove created by (WSS 2.0)
Hello members, Is there a way to not show the name of the person who created or published the article? Kind regards. System information: Windows Server 2003R2 with SharePoint Services 2.0

Remove from where? What's an 'article'? SPD offers many ways to customize pages, so let us know more about the page(s) in question and we might be able to steer you better.Steve Clark, MCTS | Twin-Soft.com

Thank you for your reply, I would like to hide/remove the name that is displayed by every article that is displayed on our intranet page build on WSS 2.0.

I wonder if this is as simple as a View that includes the Created By or Modified By column? In which case go to the View (or to each View) and amend it by removing the fields Created By and/or Modified By from the View(s)SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters

Hey ZX7R, What is the filename that you copied the view over from? You shoudl make an exact copy of the file, and only remove the two columns for Created By, and Modified by. You said that the view was translated from dutch. What is the name of the view in Dutch? Thanks, ScottC - Microsoft SharePoint Support

Hello ScottC, The correct view is <overzichtsweergave>, only this standard view can't be edited. So the only solution is to create an new view that is exactly the same as the <overzichtsweergave> but without the fields "Created by" or "Modified by" but then the whole article is viewed on the main page!!! Kind regards.

Thank you for your reply. It's possible to create a new view, then on the main intranet page the "user"name is not placed anymore. But I have created a table with announcements, when you open 1 article at the bottem you see "created on" and "last modified". Is it possible to remove this? Kind regards.

There is a default view, translated from 'Dutch" it's called: outline view. With this view an article on the main intranet page is viewed by the first 3 lines, you must click on the article to see everything. This columns in this view can't be edited, so I create an new view and remove the columns "created by" and Modified by", but then the whole article is viewed on the main page, strange because all settings are copied from the outline view. Can somebody tell me how to configure this?

It's amazingly difficult to remember what was in WSS 2.0 but it's possible (probable?) that all you need to do is to change the view used by the list when it is used in the main page. I suggest you look at my WSSv2 FAQ because I wrote a lot of FAQ articles for the v2 product and one of them might well cover this. http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.com/Lists/v2%20WSS%20FAQ/AllItems.aspx SP 2010 "FAQ" (mainly useful links): http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx WSS3/MOSS FAQ (FAQ and Links) http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com/default.aspx Both also have links to extensive book lists and to (free) on-line chapters

Hey ZX7R, If you want to create a custom outline view. Open the site in Frontpage, expand the list, double click on dispform.aspx and then edit the page in 'list form editor' mode. You would want to remove the footer through Frontpage. You would want to do this on a test site before doing it in a production environment. You should take several things into consideration however before editing a SharePoint 2003 website in FrontPage. They are outlined in this KB article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831612 Thanks, ScottC - Microsoft SharePoint Support
