Remove Edit Page capabilities

I have some users who are currently able to edit a page and edit page properties, which I do not want them to do. They have a custom permission level set up as follows:

For List Permissions they have: Edit, items, View items, Open items, View Application Pages.

For Site Permissions they have View Pages , Browse User information, Use remote Interfaces and open.

They have no Personal Permissions.

How can I prevent these users from editing pages? Even if they lose the 'Browse and Page' links on the ribbon that would be okay.

Thank you!

Hi

The founction of "Edit Items"  -  Edit items in lists, edit documents in document libraries, and customize Web Part Pages in document libraries.

To prevent these users from editing pages , Just unchecked the "Edit Items" permission in the List Permissions.

Edit Items lets users Edit Pages? Shouldn't a user be able to interact with list and library items without also having the right to change a page?? I am using a wiki page so perhaps this derives from this content type?

Hi,

Actually, all pages in the site were managed by Site Pages library. If user have edit item permission on this library, that means that user has permission to edit page. The simple solutions is go to View all site content -> Site Pages -> Click Library Permission on Ribbon and then remove all users/groups have contribute permission. Do not need to change permission level for contributor built-in.

Hope this help.

Thanks

Hi,

Let's verify that:

You have some users who have a custom permission level,  they are currently able to edit a page and edit page properties what you do not want them to do.

Per my test,  just uncheck the "Edit Items" permission from the List Permissions to them.

Then these users would not able to edit a page and edit page properties.

Then I will answer your question:

Yes, Edit Items lets users Edit Pages.

The users are able to view the list and library items, but they are not able to edit the items.

If you have any problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
