Remote Tools and RDP
Hello I have been through the forums and most of the responses seem to be several years old regarding the SCCM remote Tools and the use of a CTRL+ALT+DEL for user sessions. We have a Microsoft EA and would prefer not to have to buy a third party tool to have the functionality we have now in SMS 2003, but would like to begin our Windows 7 migration soon this year.....so here goes... 1. Using SCCM remote tools (latest SP +patches) can you send a CTRL+ALT+END to bring up the login prompt screen? Without anyone logged onto that computer already... bring up the login screen for username and password? Or does it just fail to connect if no one is logged in and then you know to RDP to the box? 2. We have many PCs running WinXP that are locked down for specific functions. These PCs use an autologin account to login after reboot. We typically can use the SMS2003 tools to see if anyone is using the computer before doing any work. We would like to use the SCCM remote tools to do the same without interfering with the user. Can it connect with no distracting notification to the logged in user? Thanks for your help and any comments. :)

Hi 1) Ctrl+Alt+Delete will be added in the next version of ConfigMgr. (aka V.Next) 2) If you install the "right click tools" you will find a (pstool) feature to show you who is locked on to the computer.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

Hi Kent Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify.... 1. I understand that Ctrl+Alt+Delete will be added in the next version of SCCM. (aka Gold key from SMS 2003 remote tools) But since SCCM uses RDP protocol can you send a Ctrl+Alt+End which is the RDP way of bringing up the task manager. 2. These are kiosk computers with an autologin account. They reboot, log in, and present a locked down desktop. I'm more concerned with the computer being in use rather than who is logged on. What we do now is..... Connect via remote tools... if the computer is not in use we bring up task manager, select logoff, break the autologin and then login administratively..... to complete the work all within the same remote control session.
