Does SCE 2007 SP1 support managing remotely connected workgroup computers directly over the Internet similiar to Internet Based Client Management in SCCM 2007? Thanks,-MattMatthew Tinney

Hi Matt -You can use certificate-based agent communication for workgroup computers.Those workgroup computers could report their health over the Internet.The workgroup computers would need DNS or hosts file name resolution that resolved the private FQDN DNS name of the Essentials server.Your firewall where the Essentials server is located would need to open port 5723 inbound, filtered to only allow connection from the public IP address used by the default gateway (Internet router) of the location where the workstation computer(s) are.There would be additional firewall work needed to enable Updates management of the remote workgroup computers, it can get complex.Here are some references:
