On a 2008 Server, we use Remote Control to connect to clients. One day this week, it suddenly failed to start. The file executed is RC.exe, Windows prompts for "Open File - Security Warning - Do you want to run this file..." Then I click Run, the cursor changes to an arrow and a hourglass, and then nothing happens. Any idea what to do? Freddy

Was anything in active directory GPO changes? any recent updates applied to the workstations? Have tried as a test, re-dploy the client to one machine? How about the Remctrl.log on the client?

The problem is not on a client. It is on the server itself, from wich we connect to clients through the Remote Control. (RC.exe) The RC program will not open. If I try to open RC.exe from another server, it starts. What to do? Hopefully, I don't neeed to reinstall the server.Freddy

No entries found on this problem. The fix does not solve the problem. it only makes the "run this file" prompt dissappear. The cursor still changes to an arrow and an hourglass, but nothing happens. I've also tried to copy the rc.exe and the rdpencom.dll to the desktop, and run it. Nothing happens. If I do this on another server, the program starts immediatelyFreddy

Hi. The problem is that we cannot connect to any client, and therefore cannot find any useful information from the remotecontrol.log. IF we could start the program to connect to clients, we would not start this Forum Question. As I said earlier, we cannot open the remote control program on our 2008 Server, to connect to clients at all. That is the problem. Remote Control will not start. Any idea what to do?Freddy
