Relative hyperlink changes when posting dokument in SharePoint
I am trying to post a web site (word document) with relative links to other sites in Sharepoint. What happens is that the link changes to a lockal link on my computer. F.eks. http://sharpoint_server/stem/Pages/topptekst.aspxThis is the link I want to use an it changes to: file:///C:\User\usern_name\documents\sharpoint_drafts\topptekst.aspx How can I keep the hyperlink to where I want it? I've had a similar issue. We are using Sharepoint Server 2007. The problem is heinous. We have project review checkpoint templates in an Excel .xls file (not .xlsx). We have many people accessing the file at various different times. This spreadsheet holds perhaps 70 links pointing to other docs we create during our software lifecycle. All point to sharepoint links like Reili suggested he wanted to use. I've edited the file many time to fix these links and it works fine when *I* access or edit the file. I'm the main owner of the document. The problem, as Reili suggests comes when other try to view the document. The don't necessarily even have to save it - just viewing the document triggers the links to change to a local file on my disk which, of course, others can't read. There's an interesting addition though. When you look at the file, the text describing the link (which is rarely changed from the URL) is accurate. To use Reili's example, it would show:"http://sharpoint_server/stem/Pages/topptekst.aspx". It's not until you <right-click> and select "Edit Hyperlink" that you see the actual URL is pointing to: "file:///C:\User\usern_name\documents\sharpoint_drafts\topptekst.aspx"Any clues on this? It's driving us crazy! Thanks,Chris

I am having a similar issue with SP2007: Document1 in SP Doc Library: Opens fine with links working. Link from a different SP Site to the same Document1 in SP Doc Library and most of the links change to file:///C:\User\usern_name\documents\... Here is an article I found that may help but this only solves the problem by configuring each machine that opens the file: (not an ideal situation when you have 200,000 plus employees) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903163 Method 2: Word 2007 Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options. Click the Advanced. Under General, click Web Options. Click the Files tab. Click to clear the Update links on save check box. Click OK two times. Brandon
