Reinstall of SharePoint Server 2007
Hello all, As a result of an aministrator's mistake our installation of SharePoint Server 2007 is messed up: NTFS permissions on many directories are lost, and I suspect some files are missing too. It manifests in some (though not all) functionality not working, e.g. search. I'd like to reinstall the server to make sure all files are in place and all permissions are correct. Is there a way to do it while keeping all the content and settings? It's a single-server installation with SQL Server 2005 database (SQL Server on a different computer). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Leonid

For the content and settings in the site collections and sites, everything should be kept after you attach the content database to the new farm. But for the content in the CA site and configuration database, maybe, you could try to disconnet to the existed farm and reconnect it, but if you seen any problems, I suggest you to create a new config database. and you had to rebuild the configurations.
