Reinstall SCCM 2007
Hi, A company have advised us that their current SCCM 2007 setup has major issues and they would like this fully reinstalled. I believe this is a single primary site server with around 90 clients. Can anyone offer any advice in the following areas: I am aware that a site code should never be reused. Even in the event of a complete uninstall and reinstall should I use a different site code? Would I be best uninstalling the configuration agent from the client machines or can I leave this installed and just manually confugre each machine with the new site code? Would I be best recreateing all policies, packages etc? Are there any other potential risks when reinstalling? Many thanks Alistair

Site codes can be reused as long as you clean the System Management container in AD correctly. Configuration Manager Tasks for Decommissioning Sites and Hierarchies http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb681023 I would recommend reinstalling the clients. This will allow you to re-evaluate their configurations and modify if necessary. If they're OK with they're current production scheme, try modifying as less as possible. This will allow you to meet your deadline quicker, but do inquire on their needs so you can further adjust any requirements. To my knowledge there are no "mayor risks" as the infrastructure is already in place. Plan, proceed and review ;)

If you have a lot of packages/advertisements/collections, you are looking at a massive amount of work. I'd personally be inclined to find out what those "major issues" are, and try to analyze/understand/correct them if at all possible. A complete de-install/re-install of SCCM may not be the best solution, and in fact, may not even be a solution at all depending on the nature of the issues. Nick.

Hi, Concur with Nick's advise: a complete reinstallation is not the best solution for exsiting "Major" issues. Actually after you successfully re-install the site server, you can't promise the previous major issues will not come back since you didnot troubleshooting these issues to find out the root cause.
