Regarding OUT OF BAND MS15-078 Replacing MS15-077
The OoB MS15-078 states that it replaces MS15-077, OK. Here's the rub, MS15-077 is applicable to Windows 2003 Server and the OoB is not. Does that mean that the "elevation of privilege" vulnerability stated in MS15-077 is all we should be worried about for that OS or that the "remote code execution" vulnerability addressed in MS15-078 does not apply to 2003 Server or since support for 2003 Server Sun Downed on Friday and the OoB was released on Monday we need just to suck-it-up? Does anyone know... Microsoft?

Hi Don,

For those Windows Systems which are out of support, I suggest you use the workaround (renaming ATMFD.DLL) in this article below to mitigate the vulnerability.

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-078 - Critical

https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/MS15-078?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

In addition, I suggest you upgrade existing Windows 2003 systems to get more efficient support and better user experience.

Best Regards,

Amy
