Regarding Dynamic sizing of table in reporting services/Report builder
How is it possible to increase height and width of the table(as it happens for chart based on dynamic height and dynamic width properties automatically) in reporting services? we have done hiding and unhiding of columns for a table, but want the table to retain the original dimensions even after the change. Hi, I believe Reporting services Doesnt have any Straight Approach to make the Column Width and Height of Table or Matrix to change at Run time (Dynamic) . Mark it as Answered if found Useful.Rakesh M J

May i know if your table has how many columns Hidden/Shown based on Expression and can this change by chnging any parameters ?? Rakesh M J

Hi, I've a chart and table in the report. i have a parameter called site and based on the parameter selected the table will grow. I have set dynamic height expression for chart. In spite of selection the chart width remains the same. But table width differs if i select only two sites. I want either the table to fit in the report or my chart size should vary with the table. Is it possible?HemaPriyankha

Hi Hema, If you are Displaying Site on Columns with some Measures on detail : 1.Use a Matrix instead of Table and Chart and take a Table and put this matrix and Chart inside the Table one below another. At Run time both will have same width. If Not, 1.If you have a aTable and Hiding Table and to Match the Chart width to table at Run time is Not Possible. Rakesh M J

Hi HemaPriyankha, From your description, you can use the “site” multivalue parameter to determine number of columns display in the table. For example, if you select two sites of the parameter, the width of the table will increase and display two columns. Do you mean that the width of the table and the width of the chart are always keeping the same? If so, we can count the number of parameter values that you selected in the report, and then use the “DynamicWidth” property of the chart to accomplish this. Based on your environment, the DynamicWidth property of the chart is set to the following expression: =(Parameters!site.Count) & “in” (Note: By default, the width size of column in the table is “1in”. If you set the width size of column to “2in”, the expression should be changed like this:= Parameters!site.Count * 2) & “in”) If I have something misunderstood, please point out and elaborate your requirement with more details. Thanks, Bin Long

Hi Bin Long, I am Not sure if you can write an Expression in Column Width of a Table . It can be changed at run-time if am not wrong. Correct me if i am Wrong ! << Mark it as Answered if found useful >> Rakesh M J

Hi Rakesh, As you posted, there is no straight approach to increase or decrease the column width and height dynamically. The width of the table is decided by the number of columns, I mean that we can set the “DynamicHeight” property of the chart so that the width of chart will increase or decrease which is based on the number of columns in the table.
