I have Exchange server 2007. Hub & Cas in one hardware box and Mail box is running on another server. Now hub & Cas stopped working after a microsoft update. I would like to install Hub & Cas in another hardware box with old hostname and IP address. 

After the installation, will I lose all mail boxes?

No, you should not lose mailbox data by installing a new HT+C

Depends the Active directory too. If you have the domain controller in a different server, you can install the CAS,HUB in a different server without an issue. Later, remember to delete the dead server entries too

As per your mail, it is possible to get all the mails. So do I need to create the mail boxes again?

No need to re-create mailboxes.

My present HT & CAS server host name is webmail. 

Steps I have to do.

Shut down the old server

Install a new server with hostname webmail and same IP address

Join to the domain

Install HT & CAS and configure.

Can I use the same ssl certificate?

Do I need to do anything else?

Tonio,

Assigning the same name and IP can create issues as you never decommission Exchangeservers with same name which are shutdown now. New name/IP is fine. You can use the same SSL certificate(if it does contains only Exchangespecific names). Assign the newclient access serverin place of old one

The third party SSL is created with hostname.

If I remove the old server from AD and give the same IP and hostname to new server, will it give any trouble.

That won't help ! Even when you remove the account from AD, there will be exchange entries in multiple places. So, you have to hard delete it through ADSIEDIT

When I use a different hostname, will the same old third party certificate accept? Because it has created with hostname.

To make it up the server, do I need to do any other things?

If you don't delete anything from AD you can just rebuild the server with the original domain and run the Exchange install with the /recoverserver switch.

Once the rebuild is finished you should just have to update the virtual directories and install the cert again and you should be good to go.

If you don't mind can you please take a remote desktop through teamviewer.

The only supported way to delete an Exchange 2007 server is to reinstall it on a new server with the same name using setup /mode:RecoverServer, and then uninstall it.  It is not supported to go hacking around using ADSI Edit.

Deleting Exchange servers in ADSI Edit is not supported.

The answer for you is thus:

1. Remove the old domain computer account in AD.

2. Build a new server with the same name (WEBMAIL, you say it is) and join it to the domain.

3. Install Exchange 2007 by running setup /mode:RecoverServer.  That will restore nearly if not all of the Exchange settings to that box.  You may need to redo customizations, such as if you enabled HTTP redirect in IIS.

4. Apply updates as required and desired.

If you didn't export and keep a copy of the certificate in a PFX format, then you will have to issue a new certificate.  Your certificate provider should allow you to re-key the certificate at no charge, based on my experience.

I installed Windows 2008 into a new box.

1. I will shut down the old box

2. Add old IP and old Hostname to new server

3. Go to command prompt and type setup /mode:RecoverServer

4. Am I correct?

5. Will it take all old configuration?

I am bit worried, before my employees come tomorrow, this has to be up and running. Otherwise I have to look for a new job. I am really sorry.

Start the service.  If it starts, or if it started before Setup failed, just restart Setup.

Not starting few services. The webmail computer was not the member of exchange group in AD. I just added. Should I restart the setup again?

Of course.  It has to be a domain member.

Except two issues everything is working fine.

IIS default website is not working.

When I import the licence it says, this is not a valid certificate for exchange.

I already told you the answer to this too.

If you are just trying to import the certificate you received originally, it doesn't have the private key.  If you exported the certificate and have a PFX file, you can import that one, otherwise you must issue a new certificate request and have the original certificate re-keyed.

I created a new certificate from Godaddy. I did not use old one.

Yeah, you can't import a p7b that way.

If you got all certs in a P7B, open it and extract each individual one.  Import the root and intermediates, and complete your pending certificate request with the server certificate.
