Recovering our MOSS 2007 environment
We have the following of our MOSS 2007 SP2 environement. * a 6 month old Ghost image of the MOSS and WFE servers. * SQL full backups of all our SharePoint databases including content and config from last night. * stsadm backups of the CA and SSP sites from last night * File system Backups of 12 Hive and wss virtual directories from the MOSS and WFE servers from last night. * An enum list of all site collections with their respecitive DBs from last night. * A folder with all our 3rd party WSP files and a screen shot of installed solutions. If we have all of that in hand and had to completely move to brand new HW due to physical disaster, what would be the most logical recovery sequence: 1. install OS, SQL and MOSS SP2 again from scratch with same server names. 2. stop Sharepoint 3. Restore all Databases 4. Restore 12 hive folders on moss and WFE. 5. start SharePoint. Would step 3 bring back our configuration? I would presume so. Would I still need to re-install 3rd party WSP solutions? Would I need to worry about any unique Guids created during a fresh install that don't match the old environment? What about IIS meta data, will that get instantly recreated when SharePoint comes up after restores? Many Thanks.
