Recovered from 10525 to 10240 Would now like to go back

I originally signed up for the insider previews on the fast ring, and rarely experienced any major issues with release prior to and including RTM bulld 10240.The first build released after RTM 10525, however made my PC very unstable - random app crashes. Unable to reboot (trying would just result in the screen hanging on the restarting screen). So I decided ot try and restore my pc back to 10240. This in turn broke a number of apps, and my PC is still unstable ( noita as bad as 10525 was).I have attempted to do a restore and keep my files and apps, however when starting the process I am informed that I will need to re-install my apps.

Therefore is it possible to do a clean (but keep my files apps ) of 10240, or would I be better to try and go down the insider path.

If the latter, I would also need ot know how to trigger the update. I have attempted to remove myself fro insider builds and then re-add. Rebooted multiple times, and windows update is still not showing the preview build.Thank you

You cannot clean install while keeping apps.  If you got 10525 you are an insider.  It may be as much as 24-48 hours before 10525 is re-offered.

I also rolled back to build 10240 due to a video driver issue in 10525.  Its been a week and I have not been reoffered 10525.  I suspect the situation will not change until the next Insider build.

Hi Dodge38,

A clean install will remove everything on the drive/partition that you would like to install the system to.

If you would like to keep the installed app, we may consider to perform an upgrade install, also known as repair install, with the install media.

Besides, Windows 10 build 10532 is available, see the Windows Blog:

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10532 for PC
