Receiving Error 0x800700A1
I started building task sequences for Windows 2008 and 2008 R2 using MDT 2010 to deploy virtual machines running on VMware ESX hosts. I upgraded one of the hosts from 3.5 to 4.0 Update 1 and now I receive the 0x800700A1 when trying to deploy either OS. I saw a reference to the same error for MDT 2009 and the person suspected an upgrade in Hyper-V. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Scott,Did you set task sequence advertisement to Download and Run? If so, please try to reconfigure the advertisement to run from the distribution point. Hope it helps.

The error above was being generated because the task sequence was unable to copy the log files from the C drive because the partition was never created. It looks like VMware added a new SCSI controller LSI Logic SAS. This controller appears to be supported when using the Windows installation DVD but not supported when using WinPE. Changeingthe VM to use the LSI Logic Parallel adapter allows the disk partitioning to function.

Trying to create a VM with a disk size of X GB does not mean you can set the task sequence to Use specific size X GB.
