Receiving 5783 and 7888 event ID errors with SSP main account
Good morning. I am running Sharepoint 2007 on one dedicated server, with one SQL server acting as its main database (no secondary search or webservice servers). I'm receiving a string of SQL and SSP authentication failure messages whenever the SSP runs to sync with the database on my sql box. Based on some previous research, SQL authentication for the main SSP account doesn't like FQDN names for user accounts. Do I need to reset the sql access rights for the main account, so it authenticates properly? Here are the two error messages I am receivingEvent Type: ErrorEvent Source: Office SharePoint ServerEvent Category: Office Server General Event ID: 7888Date: 2/15/2010Time: 8:58:32 AMUser: N/AComputer: MOSS2007Description:A runtime exception was detected. Any help would be appreciated. Do I need to adjust the SQL permissions/account to logon so the databases sync on my SQL system, or make a change in Central Admin to prevent the SSP authentication failures?Sincerely,Jeremy Ward

Hi,i faced this problem bfore, You need to use the netbios name of your domain, do not use"domain.com". This will take care of the issue.Best Regrads, Ahmed Madany

Thanks, Ahmed. My question now, is where do I make the change? On the SQl server or somewhere in Central Administration?

All of my app pool identity use the netbios domain now. However, I'm still receiving these errors for the SSP synchronization. Do I need to perform an IIS reset?
