So my company has nominated me to be the lucky individual to migrate my departments 2010 subsite over to our companies already existent 2013 sharepoint farm.
I'm a long way away from actually performing the task, and although I've been doing some reading regarding the process, I can't seem to find any info on the following 2 questions. From what I can tell the articles I've read all seem to operate under the assumption that I'm the sharepoint administrator working off of the server the sharepoint is housed on. So here are my 2 questions (and I apologize if there are existing answers on here, i didn't see them in my searches):
1) My site is a 2010 wss sharepoint site, what would be the minimum permissions I would need to get this subsite transferred over to the 2013 farm? Does it require server farm administrator access or is there another set of permissions that would allow me to accomplish this?
2) I have to think I can, but just to confirm, once the proper permissions are set, is this something I can configure remotely from my work pc? I know this seems like a dumb question but I keep reading articles that make it sound like the person handling the conversion is logged into the actual server. I just wanted to verify that isn't necessary.
Thanks all for any information you can provide regarding the above.
