Re-install SCCM Server 2007 R3
Hi I have a Sccm 2007 R3 server on windows 2008R2, my database also in same box SQL 2005. single primary site in mixed mode. The SCCM server is working for couple of years and now its becoming slow, giving errors, some times OS deployment and Software updates also not working. i'm planning to upgrade the hardware and move in to a new server. i want to quick migration to new server with fresh OS. so i want to know safest and easiest way to re install a new sccm server with same site code and same clients. I have following theory in my mind. 1) remove the old sccm server from the network and delete the contents of System management container in AD. 2) Install SCCM 2007 R3 in a fresh server with same site code, 3) Configure the SCCM for OSD,Software Deployment, Software updates ect. 4) Put a GPO in AD that will gonna locate the new site code and server for all the clients. is this method gonna work ? can i manage all the existing sccm client deployed machines ? That will work, but you will also loose all of your ConfigMgr objects (packages, collections, advertisements etc). Why don't you just replace the hardware? The OS can be upgraded during that process.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

One other way you can use, the ConfigMgr backup and restore it to the new hardware (given that you can keep the servername and partition layout). Copy all packages\backup folders from old server , rename the new server to the old name (using the same name, ip , drives, path for installtion) You can also refer this blog article Moving SCCM server to new hardware.
