I receive this randon error in a SSIS Package. The step did not generate any output. The return value was unknown. The process exit code was 128. I do not know what task this occurs in because it does ot log anything. It is the only error that I see. This package has beeen executing just fine for months. This package is executed through a SQL Server Agent Job. Does anyone know what causes this and how I can get it resolved? I appreciate any assistance. Thank you.Thomas Chovanec

I suggest to run the package with dtexecui (double click on the package). I may give you more Information about the error and the task which thrown it.

The thing is when it fails I just restart the job and it runs fine. So it is pretty difficult to re-create the error.Thomas Chovanec

To help you capture the offending piece I suggest to add logging to your package. Also, since the job ran fine for so long go find out what has changed.Arthur My Blog
