Radio button with mandatory textarea option available in Survey?
Hi, I had a question regarding the surveys in Sharepoint site. Do I have an option in SharePoint wherein the user has to mandatory enter some comments (text field) against any question if the answer chosen is let’s say Option 3 or Option2 out of the 4 options provided? Below is an example. All the options provided should be radio buttons so that user can chose only either A or B or C. Now if user selects B - Red as an option he has to mandatorly provide the reason why. Is there such a feature available in the Sharepoint Survey? What's your favorite color ? A) Blue B) Red "(why)_______________" C) Yellow Thanks Ram

Hi Ram, There isn't such a feature in SharePoint Survey. But here is an easy workaround without programming. You can click Next Question after you define your question. Calling the new question "why". Making it "Single line of text" for the type and require a response to this question. Hope this helps. Thanks, Pengyu Zhao

Thanks Pengyu !!! That sounds like a nice trick. Wouldn't that be configurable under branching logic?

Penjyu, There is one more catch in this. Suppose for the last question too I have the same scenario. If user selects "Red" I can prompt the next question as "Why". I can add a branching logic which says if user selected the option as "Red" show me the last question as "Why". Now if user selects "Blue" even then the "Why" is prompted since thats the last question even though no branching is configured for option "Blue"

Hi Ram, Setting a branching logic could skip to a special question base on the response. If there is no branch logic for the option, it will go to the next question. Thanks, Pengyu Zhao
