RE: Getting the copy profile setting to work

in the past i have been able to build images (not with sccm though) that work fine with the copyprofile=true option. apparently this is not supported in sccm 2012 r2. now because of this and building the image with mdt, the is no point in configuring any profile options before the image gets captured. things like default file associations, shortcuts etc...use to work easily by just configuring the default audit mode admin profile which then gets copied over to any new users as and when they log on (if you are able to use the copyprofile=true option).

how could i achieve the same result without copyprofile=true? specifically:

  • setting default file associations. importing via dism requires admin rights so logon scripts are not an easy option here.
  • start menu shortcuts and generally any profile option you would generally want all new users to see when they log on for the first time.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I basically never use copyprofile I scripts everything + GPP if an option to achieve what I want to achieve. File Assosciation can be done with Group policy preference. scripting to the start menu, C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu is a good place to start which is the "All users" start meny if all users should have it..

You can also mount the defualt users registry and import any changes there.

For user profile customisation, you can apply by editing the default profile when running the task sequence.

For further modification can be done using mounting NTUSER.DAT by using REG LOAD then apply all your custom settings then use REG UNLOAD to unmount the NTUSER.DAT for default user. these changes will be applied for all the logged in users.

Hope this helps
