RE: Building images with MDT and virtual machines

hi. this is an opinion type question if that makes any sense. i currently build my "core" windows 8.1 images on a hyper-v vm, which works very well. during my one core build task sequence i have inserted suspend commands at key inspection points. when i reach these i also create a checkpoint so that i can easily revert the build back to a known "good" state if required.

in some instances, even after running through the whole build (and capturing the image), i have gone and deleted the previously captured image applied the checkpoint to the build vm and re-captured the same image (albeit with whatever modification i required).

i get no errors and the image gets re-capture with the exact same name etc...the only difference is that the re-capture sometimes happend days after the original one.

in essence i want to know if anyone else does this as well or can see any problems i might run into if i use this method going forward. like i said no errors pop up, even after deploy these wim files with sccm.

Hi,

You shouldn't have any issues with this, a lot of us do it the same way.. Suspend before a second Software Updates step so we can get all the latest updates in there..
