RDS licensing

Hi,

I have two questions about RDS licensing.

If we purchase per user licenses we must have the number of licenses as real persons or as domain users that have access to RDS?

If we purchase per device licenses, when the temporary license expires after 90 days will it be reassigned to the device or the device access will be blocked?

Thanks!

Hi DM,

You need to have number of licenses equal to number of users (domain users) who have access to RD session host servers. However, it allows additional users to have access, but violates the license agreement.

If we purchase per device licenses, when the temporary license expires after 90 days will it be reassigned to the device or the device access will be blocked?

When device connects to RDSH server first time, it will be issued with temporary license. But when it connects to RDSH second time, and whey you have RD license server activated and licenses are installed, the device will get permanent license.

Check the below link for more information on RDS licenses types.
