RB2 Query Designer Error when editing Essbase dataset: An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 5393, position 39
Using RB2, Essbase 11.1.1 as a datasource: I am able to set up my datasource and initial dataset using the query designer without any problems, but if I want to go and edit the query later (right click on Dataset name, select Query), I get the following error when it tries to load the query designer: "The query designer cannot load due to a problem with the selected cube..." and asks me if I want to use a different cube. If I click no, I get the following error: "An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 5393, position 39. ---------------------------- The server sent an unrecognizable response." At this stage I'm unable to use the query designer to add measures and dimensions and have to modify the raw MDX. Has anybody else been able to do this against Essbase 11.1.1? I'm wondering if it's not some obscure setting somewhere I'm missing. Where do I even start debugging this?

Opened a case with Microsoft Support.

Did you ever fix that issue?Y.K.

Debugging with Microsoft showed that the problem was in the Essbase interface. Essbase did not correctly handle dimension level names with spaces (or ampersand symbols?) in it. I ended up logging a support request with Oracle to get this fixed - they gave me a possible date 5 months into the future. We ended up never implementing the SSRS reports against Essbase and canned the project.
