I've had TrendMicro stop the installation cold before. Also, try running the install with logging enabled and watch the log: msiexec /i kb977384.msi /l*v c:\977384.log The times I've seen it hang up, the log will indicate which service it is trying to stop (but cannot) and then you can use this info to remediate the issue depdnding on what service it cannot stop.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

You need to watch the log while the update is running to see which service it is stuck on or read the log file above the snippet your posted to find out which one it got stuck on. From the sniipet above it is clearly having an issue stopping a service: "CustomAction SmsPatchStopService returned actual error code 1603".Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys
