R2 fails after SCCM moved to a new hardware
Hi, After moving the SCCM server to a new hardware (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrbackup/thread/0980de40-683b-4bb4-a008-e8d46e61486f/). i'm having problems to install the R2 feature to the new server. the old server had R2 installed but on the new hardware i can't install it. the reason is that the old server was Win2003 x32 with SCCM 2007 R2 SP2 and the new server is Win2008R2 x64. the old installation folder was c:\program files. the R2 setup do not let me install to "c:\program files" which is the install folder of my new SCCM (when the restore procudure is taken, we must keep the old install folder). I know my new server is R2 even if it tell that R2 is not installed (i can use the app-v feature). Can i change the setting in the new server to reflect the R2 installation?

When you say R2 won't let you install to C:\program files what exactly do you mean? Are you getting an error? John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

Are you trying to restore your site to a different folder location? That is not supported, you have to restore to the same path as the original folder location.

Hi, My old server was Win2003 x32 with SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 installed to "c:\program files". since i needed to install a new server with win2008 R2 (x64) with SCCM 2007 SP2 R2 to the same location. after my new SCCM was installed i figure that i also needed to install the R2 but with no luck (the error is that the setup could not find sccm install folder on c:\program files (x86)). after the this error i started with recovery process (restore from backup). Do i need to install the R2 CD? in the SCCM console i see that my primary site is already R2.

So you're new SCCM install is in C:\Program files or C:\Program Files (x86)? I am confused. It has to be exactly the same as it was on the old server. How big is this site? If I inherited a site on which SCCM was installed on C: I'd consider starting over from scratch so that I could get SCCM off of C: John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

SCCM is now installed to "c:\program files" just as it was on the old server. i've tried to install all prerequisites before starting the recovery process, and because my old server was R2 i thought that i need to install it before the restoration of the server and DB. the thing is that the R2 setup process dont like that i'm using 64 bit machine and that the SCCM install folder is "c:\program files".

It shouldn't care where you install too. I personally always use E:\SCCM\ but it shouldn't care. Can I take a look at it? I can setup a live meeting but it would need to be after 5pm CST. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

1. Create a folder structure so that the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\ddm.box' exists. 2. Reinstall R2 (ignore any errors) 3. Copy the .ddr files from 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\ddm.box' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\ddm.box' 4. The files will disappear. This is good. 5. Reinstall R2 one more time. This time it will succeed and show on the site properties as 'Yes'. I got this info from another thread here but unfortunately I can't find the link. Otherwise I would give credit.
