R. Builder exporting to Excel generates a duplicate row for each Parent Group.
Hi, As far as I know, it does exist such phenomenon in both VS 2005/2008(RDLC) and Reporting Services 2005/2008/R2(RDL) environment, it's a default behavior. To avoid the duplicate row, a solution I can think is that you can create an additional same report without toggle item for Excel format. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Albert Ye

Hey again, I am having several troubles exporting my reports to excel. My report designs' are generally like this: -Parent Group A -Parent Group B -(details) The details rows' visibility are toggled by Parent Group A (I set the ToggleItem property to "Parent Group A") . Anyway, this works great in Report Builder, but when I export it to Excel, I get an extra row at the bottom of each Parent Group B that copies the first row of this group. Same thing happens with Parent Group A. I've been trying to find a solution to this for the last 2 weeks and nothing seems to work. I've tried by adding group headers and footers, which seems to be a fairly good solution, but it provokes some other problems with the report which (I guess) can be avoided. Any solutions?

Yes, as far as I'm concerned it is "by design" what Microsoft has done here, to make excel outlines work correctly... but I haven't been able to make them work OK either. If there is no other solution, to make an "exportable" version of the document sounds good enough. I would like to add that I kind of "fixed" this issue by using row headers and footers on each parent group I create. But be careful with that, you will have some other troubles to face and put on a balance before using this workaround. Anyway, thanks for the help Albert. If anyone else has another workaround, we're here to discuss :) Thanks again. Osvaldo.
